Being in the middle of the school year and welcoming the New Year, it might be time to update that wardrobe of yours that you have been putting off for a while. But lets me honest, shopping can add up quickly especially if you want to revamp your entire closet. To make the situation a bit more tedious, some of us do not like physically going in a brick-and-mortar and trying on items, being around others, and waiting in those long lines! Thanks to the invention of the internet and e-commerce we can all shop in the comfort of our home and “visit” more stores than we could spending a day in the mall.
You’ve probably seen plenty of lists on other sites, have your favorite stores or even had some ideas of where you wanted to shop from Instagram and tv ads. But I wanted to give you all a list of places that were out of the norm. Trust me I love fast fashion brands just as much as the next person. But sometimes you need shops that not everyone goes to and where you will be able to find good quality items. As well as the right price range and something you can wear for more than one season with versatility in wearing in for years to come.
I made a list of shops that are internationally popular as well as not being known to many people. They range from very girly, to classy, edgy and everything in between. Some are American shops, French, Spanish, and British. I find that you get really great pieces from small boutiques and even those that reside out of your country. I guarantee you will find something you like amongst these sites. The best part is that you are not going to break the bank finding key pieces!
1. Bershka
This Spanish based brand is slowly but surely starting to gain popularity here in the states. You can find anything you need from men and women’s clothes, accessories, shoes, and so much more. Think of this as if Forever 21 and Zara had a love child, they have key pieces for the working girl and some street and lounge wear for everyday. At affordable prices there is bound to be something that grabs your attention.
2. Mango
Mango is another very similar store to Zara, and it too is a Spanish label. Catering to more of a contemporary wardrobe and less graphics, this store is perfect for creating your capsule wardrobe and finding what you need for that office style or have a classy modest or more reserved style. They have amazing fall/winter pieces so be sure to check out their sweaters and coats for the colder season!
3. Everlane
Here is another place for my girls with a modest sense of fashion. But do not be fooled by the word modest, they have amazing items for everyone! For me, I tend to have a free willed taste when it comes to my fashion but you can never go wrong with having s simply reliable piece in your closet for a potential interview. Now this is more on the pricier side of the spectrum but still affordable for the quality of the clothes you are getting, just keep an eye out for their sales if you are keen on owning an Everlane piece. My favorite thing from them is their shoes, particularly the boots, they look designer but about 75% less.
4. Pull & Bear
I discovered this place from one of my favorite YouTuber’s at the moment (itsTiffanieD). They do sell on ASOS as well, just not their entire inventory. The closest thing I can compare it to is possibly The Reformation, but without the astronomical prices. They carry all your basics of course but then throw in a few super unique pieces that you cannot find elsewhere. Their color scheme within their clothes are amazing and you cannot go wrong.
5. Collusion
If you love streetwear, you should definitely check this place out! It is a bit of a mixture of abstract pieces with some classy details. They sell out quickly so be sure you’re checking out their website as often as you can to snag the best pieces. Also, do not be scared to buy from the “men’s section”. Many of their items are unisex and if it does not say that it is, the clothes are neutral enough for anyone to wear it.
6. JLuxLable
This Los Angeles based label is the best place to get your basics. They have simple designs but you can never go wrong with picking us some essentials from them to complete your wardrobe. Crop tops, sweat sets, long sleeves and even their outerwear are among my favorite. Certain times a year they’ll have a major sale which is perfect to stock up or even try some of their pieces out.
7. Intimissimi
This is not much of an apparel brand but I felt that it needed to be mentioned, and for good reason! They are an Italian shop specializing in intimate-wear, but they also carry some other items such as basic tops and pajamas. They always have sales going on or having deals for their bras and panties, definitely worth checking out!
8. Lulu’s
Not sure how many people know about this place but it has endless options! It is more on the feminine side but you can always find something ranging from bridal, swim, accessories and so much more. The quality of their clothes is amazing for the price, especially their handbags. I am slowly but surely having a collection of just bags I got from Lulu’s. They always have some type of special going on and they do offer a student discount which is great for us college girls.
9. Showpo
This brand screams Australian fashion, if you love color then this is the place for you! If you are ever on the hunt for beautiful blazers, a wedding outfit, or even spring/summer clothes you will have endless options. They also sell some branded items such as Dr Martens and Tony Bianco so you might be lucky enough to get a pair you’ve been eyeing for a low price. Did I mention they also have a student discount?!
10. 12th Tribe
I found this place by luck, Instagram of all places and fell in love with their clothes. Being that they are a California based brand, you automatically get the California look the minute you wear one of their products. It gives off the cool girl factor with graphics, band tees, festival wear, and sexy beach attire. It is around the moderate price range but they always have little sales of 10-15 percent off. Do not worry if an item is sold out either, they are great at bringing back items so you’ll get your favorite piece.
11. Honeybum
Now Honeybum is another retailer perfect for every girl. They have many options that range from unique pieces and very casual traditional ones. Their swimwear is by far one of the only places where I have been able to find bikinis sold as a set and not piece by piece. The loungewear collection is another hot commodity that is worth looking over, they have tons of colors, dupes, and designs that can draw in anyone, especially with the colder months. They also have huge sales, at times 40% on top of a rewards program for their customers.
12. Missy Empire
Of course I had to put a traditional fast fashion retailer on my list. Missy is very similar to MissGuided and Pretty Little Thing. Along with the great discounts offered daily they offer a student discount and an abundance of clothing options to choose from. Their tops and dresses are among my favorites to buy. Especially if I have an event or need to stock up on new going out tops to switch up on.
13. Super Down
Great quality at an even better price is all I have to say about this brand. They have their own store front (via the web) and can be found on Revolve as well. They definitely love more feminine clothing, since they tend to stick with more of a colorful and neutral color scheme but you can find a few pieces that are on the edgier side. Perfect place to shop for the spring and summer months or if you live in a warmer place, where its socially acceptable to wear bright colors when it’s cold.
14. Meshki
Now Meshki is sort of a hidden gem. They have a good following but not many people I personally know would have traditionally thought of purchasing from them. As seen on Kylie and Kendall Jenner, it is not hard to know that they carry some staples you need in creating your capsule wardrobe. I love that they carry unique colors that are not your normal black and white. They also have some amazing campaigns that are geared to creating clothes pertaining to it such as 2000s, Miami swim, loungewear 2.0 and many more.
15. Adika
I love this place! I first found them on Insta and found out they were having a pop up in Soho and I had to take a train ride down there to see for myself. They do have plenty of streetwear and edgy clothing choices but their more girly items are definitely worth it. They always have 40 to 50 percent off on their site so do not worry about the price too much. I have had some of their items for over a year and I have had no problems with it ripping or fading. Be sure to also check out their accessories. You will love their abstract earrings and necklaces!
LAST THOUGHTS
I hope you all visited the sites and found some inspiration to help build your wardrobe. I have plenty of other unique shops that I shop at around the moderate to higher price range that I can include in another blog post for you all. But these are honestly the clothing stores I shop at the most and you will definitely get multiple bangs for your buck!
